willy willy (edge of town) was created as part of the Terrane Project, an Art on the Move residency at the Museum of the Goldfields in Kalgoorlie-Boulder/Karlkurla. Using an unusual outdoor action shot from the Dwyer and Mackay Collection, it shows the dusty, chaotic passage of a willy willy through the bare backstreets of the town. The Terrane Project brought together the archive, the woodlines, and the underlying mineral realm.
Dust on the breath… dust expired, dust inspired …dust in the town, dust in the streets and in the archives …dust in the lungs… dust from open pit blasts, the land rises in dust storms (made worse by timber-getting) …is she breathing in or out?
