Pasteur. Synecdoche. (2001)
In this exhibition 142 glass bottles sculptures took laboratory glassware and sealed it with tubing in the same manner as Pasteur’s famous experiments proving the microbial origin of decay. Inside each of the bottles were found postcards or photographs, mostly from the 1950s and 1960s. The subject matter of the images was most often rural and “natural” images of the United States. Many were of the highways of America.
The Pasteur. Synecdoche. sculptures were made in 1997 and was shown at Yada Yada Happy Doo-Da Art Show University of California, Santa Barbara and in the Fremantle Arts Centre in 2001.
