The Etruscan Room: Using Images to Query the Web

This paper by Carlo E. Bernardelli and Steven L. Tanimoto is about The Etruscan Room — a visual way of searching the web (handy for people with aphasia). The computer program adopts a metaphor for its design that goes back to a pre-Roman era. It also incorporates philosophical ideas exemplified by Renaissance painters. However the interesting bit for me was this Cosmological model of Saint Jerome in His Study, C. E. Bernardelli, 1997.
